BLACK LIVES MATTER
Black lives matter is an international movement organized within the African American community. It emerged in 2013 after George Zimmerman’s acquittal for the death of African-American teenager Trayvon Martin from a trait.
In May 2020, the murder of African-American George Floyd once again set off alarms. Floyd was detained, immobilized and drowned for 8 minutes and 46 seconds to death, at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer and two other officers. Floyd, during these eight minutes, he only repeated: “And I can’t breathe!” (“I can’t breathe”).
This fact provoked the mobilizations in several cities of the United States against racism and police brutality. The protests spread around the world and Barcelona also joined.
