On October 7, 2023, a surprise attack carried out by Palestinian armed militias, mainly from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, resulted in over 1,000 deaths, thousands of injuries, and hundreds of people being kidnapped in various locations in Israel near the Gaza Strip border. This Palestinian attack targeted attendees of a music festival and several Jewish settlements known as kibbutzim near the border line. The Israeli government declared a state of war with Hamas the following day and on October 9th, imposed a complete siege on the Gaza Strip, preventing the entry and exit of food or people and cutting off the supply of water and electricity, forcing millions of residents from the northern Gaza Strip to evacuate the area. Since then, the bombings have been relentless, and humanitarian organizations estimate that the death toll in Gaza has risen to thousands.
